Beara Camping to Wave Crest, Caherdaniel
27 August 2024
A more relaxing day today, a later start and a trip to Lidl in Kenmare and to fill up with diesel. Our friend Gill had given us a bottle to recycle which we popped into the recycling machine and got a 25c voucher in exchange, which we put towards some Portuguese tarts! Thanks Gill!
The plan was to stop in Sneem on the Ring of Kerry, have some brunch and do the town Sculpture Trail. We spotted a waitress coming out of a cafe with 2 plates of Irish breakfast and quickly went inside. Sadly the whole town had a power cut, breakfast had finished and they couldn’t make hot drinks, only beef burger or fish and chips were available, so we had to abandon all our plans (as we were a bit peckish). Thank goodness for a campervan, we drove on for a bit, pulled into a forest entrance and cooked our own bacon and egg sandwich. So on to our next campsite at Wave Crest, for a chill out and a wonderful view of the sea.
In the evening we headed off to the pub for a Guinness. On the way a very kind man stopped and gave us a lift to the The Blind Piper pub, Lillian sat in front and Brian sat with the 2 boxer dogs in the back. Guinness here ranked second out of the 3 we have tried so far.
